Responsible for driving product features and refinements through 2-6 week Agile development lifecycles. Tasks include engaging users and stakeholders to gather and define requirements, producing use cases, process flows, wireframes, hi-fi mockups and end-user testing.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Product Semantics Program: Research and development of controlled vocabularies (thesauri and taxonomies) that enable itzbig’s proprietary semantic matching technology. Manage one person responsible for vocabulary research and development.
  • Advanced Product Marketing Programs: Two programs, part of a dual strategy to drive candidate acquisition. Architected and managed by our team. My role involves leading a local production manager, two analysts and an offshore team in Delhi, India.
  • Product Knowledge Base Wiki: Architected, implemented and continue to manage all product documentation on a wiki to promote collaboration. Contains over 2,600 pages. Consists of product requirements and specifications, user interface guidelines and all other artifacts relating to the product.

Duties included project planning and organization (participants, team members and clients were often scattered around the globe, mandating a meticulous degree of orchestration), estimation (time, budget and risk), and project management.

Conducted user research and usability evaluations; provided user interface design support for the Digital Warrior project, an advanced distance learning/gaming system for the United States Army. Designed to train battalion-level battle captains in the use of digital Army Battle Command Systems for military decision-making.

Provided design direction to third party creative services to establish a new visual identity for the Southwest Regional Humanities Center. Designed, developed and administered the Southwest Regional Humanities Center Web Portal. Designed and developed new websites for the Center for the Study of the Southwest and the College of Applied Arts. On-going website and IT maintenance for the center.

Lead team of three (designer, programmer, systems admin) in various website upgrades, plus one major site re-design and release. Created user interface (both visual & interaction design) for Cephren MarketNet, the construction industry's first collaborative bidding application service to completely automate procurement workflow. Conducted contextual inquiries with clients and collaborated with product marketing and management teams to define user roles and analyze tasks.

Designed and developed features for ProjectCenter, Evolv’s construction project management application service. Contributed to the design of the ProjectCenter database schema.

PAST OCCUPATIONS OF NOTE

Programmer: I developed a number of web applications in PHP and Java on MySQL databases over the past several years. I'm fluent in XHTML and CSS; well-versed in JavaScript.

Architectural Designer: While getting my undergraduate degree in the mid-nineties, I designed and drafted plans for residential and commercial buildings that were eventually constructed in the Central Texas area.
